DeathClan Pokemon are deceased Pokemon who were bad, naughty, and just plain evil in their life time. It doesn't matter if they believed in LifeClan during their waking life or not; they just have to be evil. If a Clan Pokemon was just rude, they may still go to LifeClan. It depends. They hinder the Clans as best as they can. They created sickness and disease. Most Pokemon of the Promise Land don't believe in them, because they never showed their faces... until now.
